Cassie Burns is a multimedia dance artist currently based in Rochester, NY. Her choreography—which explores the integration of technology into live dance performance—has been adjudicated into numerous performances throughout the Northeast, in both academic and professional settings. In addition to her own projects, she also enjoys collaborating with other artists to provide technical support in the form of stage management, lighting and projection design, and video documentation. Most notably, she works as the Technical Director for Tallahassee-based MKrep. and as a Production Artist with Experimental Film Virginia, where she gets to assume a variety of creative roles, both in front of and behind the camera. Burns recently received her M.F.A. in Choreography & Performance from The College at Brockport, SUNY, where she was awarded Outstanding Graduate Student in the Department of Dance and received the Distinguished Professor Award for Graduate Student Research in support of her masters thesis project. Currently, she teaches contemporary modern dance technique at Wells College in Aurora, NY.
